CD Description:
This is the third in the series of CDs which followed on from the triple CD compilation, BRITISH TRADITIONAL JAZZ – A POTTED HISTORY (LACD300). This one deals with various top quality bands who never made the big time during the Trad era. Many of the musicians in these bands did go on to join the ‘big’ names (e.g. Alan Elsdon, Mike Peters, Graham Stewart) while some of the bands chose to remain semi-professional (e.g. The Famous Southern Stompers). One band, The Dud Clews Jaz Orch. is an example of the sub-genre of vintage big bands. A varied selection of top-notch traditional jazz.
